This microwave performs as expected. Its operations are not exceptional. The major drawback is the control panel. It is poorly lit and requires a kitchen light to illuminate the panel prior to operation. The door opener is is not readily visible and often cannot be found by guests using this appliance. I would not recommend this product to anyone. There is competition products far superior to the Amana microwave. The operation manual is not well written and lacks detail as well.

I bought this microwave 11/29/2017 (less than 2 years!) it is now junk! The door latch piece is jammed and than blew the whole unit fuse. My husband replaced all parts and the same issue resurfaced. Very disappointed to new need to purchase a new microwave. The sad thing is the one we had prior lasted 14 + years and was still working when we decided to upgrade to stainless. I recommend spending a it more money upfront an hope for longevity!

I've only had this microwave for a little while but it has performed flawlessly. It is a basic model but it has all I need. I will consider it to be a successful purchase if the "door" problem some reviewers complain about doesn't apprear for 4 or so years. Looks great--very unusual that the brand name isn't plastered on the front of the device. I like that.

This microwave is just over 2 years old, was serviced a year ago for issues with the door sensor, (light was flickering, wouldn't run because thought the door was open, would keep running with the door open,) they didn't fix the issue, and now is out of warranty. Will cost more to fix it then buy a new one.

I have this microwave that has been in use for about 2 years. The door says manufactured March 2017. It displays the same "door" error that will not allow the microwave to turn on as mentioned in the 23 other one star reviews, starting in summer 2019. I contacted Amana via the online form and never received a response. I called customer service and they said too bad, its out of warranty any repairs would be out of pocket. The cost of a service call would start at $90 to diagnose the issue. Amana won't send you replacement parts without a service call. Very disappointed in the the quality of this appliance, and that Amana does not stand behind their products! Don't buy this microwave!!

Good microwave. Cooks food evenly. Easy to use especially for my children (they can just push the popcorn button,etc.) only downside is it shows a lot of fingerprints. Much more than my last stainless steel microwave.

I've only had this for a little over a week, so I haven't used it that much (but it's been great the times I've used it.) I want to make a couple of comments, though.
First, the picture of the white model on the Home Depot site makes it look like the window is white as well. It isn't. The window is black. That might matter to someone who's going for a particular look,
Also, the microwave doesn't have (for lack of a better term) "speed dial" keys. Most microwaves let you hit the 1 button and you get a minute of time (or 2 for two minutes, etc.) This one doesn't have that feature. You need to press 1-0-0-Start to get a minute, 2-0-0-Start for two minutes, etc. It's only slightly inconvenient, but if I knew that before I bought it, I might have gone with a different brand. To save a step, you don't have to touch Time Cook first-just start with the numbers.
The only specialty button I've used is Potato and it worked just fine.
This is definitely noisier than my old GE, but that might vary with the particular installation.
This microwave comes with the absolute WORST owner's manual ever.
Overall, it's pretty good and I'm glad I bought it.

Left a review of this microwave. I bought it late July 2017 and began having door and light issues and died completely Mid Feb. A few months out of warranty. I left a review here and got a response from Amana asking for some more information.
I sent the information multiple times over the last 2 weeks and have not heard back from anyone.
Seeing as how so many people are having the exact same problem, there should have been a recall or, at least, a warranty extension on this KNOWN problem. I hope everyone begins filing claims with their State and Federal Consumer Protection Agencies. Unless Amana actually plans on responding and fixing all these known faulty microwaves.

Installed microwave during kitchen renovation. Of course that was about a year and half ago so no warranty left. Began by showing "DOOR" on display and wouldn't function. Now display won't even light up and does nothing. Pretty disappointed for a unit like this to fail so soon and to see so many others have had the same issue.

Our unit is less than three years old and has stopped working. It started with the light flickering a when the door would open. Eventually the unit stopped recognizing when the door was closed and would only work at random times. Now it won't work at all as the piece that clasps the door shut has broken off inside the unit. Will not replace with this particular unit.

This Amana microwave was in our home when we moved in. Our house had been renovated so it was brand new. Just over a year later we began having issues with the door and getting a "door" error. It would happen very sporadically but over time it got worse and now won't work at all!!!!
I came on this website to seek help but see that MANY people have the EXACT same problem and it appears they are all about the same age as our microwave. Obviously this is a real issue for Amana.
Not pleased with the quality of this product - do not buy!

Use several times a day, very happy with it. Best feature is the power control option, I use 40 or 50% power often. Push button door opener. Easy to clean.
Only negative is it should have a shelf, since interior space is large and turntable seems small.

Bought this microwave for my new home in August 2017. A few weeks ago the light would flash when I opened the door. The light would be either on or off after a few seconds of flashing but the microwave still worked. Then stopped doing it it until today. The flashing came back, when I closed the door the tray would spin, the light was on and then the whole unit just turned off. Nothing is on. Doesn't work at all.
So if you want to buy a new microwave a few months after the warranty expires, this unit is perfect.

Bought this product about three weeks ago and has been in constant use since. Easy to use and works exactly as expected. Had a minor problem with installation as the two bolts used to hang the unit from the cabinet above were the wrong bolts. Home Depot, where I bought the unit, immediately swapped me the correct bolts and installation was really easy. Very pleased.

The microwave worked fine for for 6 months, then the door issues started. Sometimes it would flash door other times it would work. Now the door will not stay closed and is unusable. Very disappointed

I bought this microwave after Thanksgiving and I'm so glad that I did. It has a very sleek look to it, fitting in very well with the style of my kitchen. I really like the feature where if there is alot of heat coming from the stove, the vent automatically comes on. I'm extremely pleased with this product and highly recommend it.
