Dishes, pots and casserols have to be well rinced or else they won't clean properly. Drying cycle either finishes with a dish towel or leaving the door open overnight as the dishes do not dry properly, wine glasses almost always are spotted. We've had a service tech come on a couple of occasions and unfortunately its always the same guy who says he has the same model as we do at home. His advice has been to use the econo setting as this was the most effective cycle in his experience. He also said not to expect anything better with these new machines as none of them wash as well the old technolgy. As we are still on the prolonged warranty we'll keep on trying until we find somebody who agrees that our machine is defective and maybe replace a part or 2 to get it working properly.

Worst dishwasher ever

After less than 2.5 years we are now buying a new dishwasher. I'm so bummed because i wanted to like it, its sleek looking and SILENT.... the problems i have had with it are ridiculous.... over $800 in repairs and warranties and 5 MAJOR repairs in less than 3yrs. major design flaws with this style. I have had multiple repairs due to water damage breaking the control pad 3x now, the vent has been replaced and yet its still broken. machine has had over 5 major parts repaired.... and whirlpool has the worst ever costumer service. and this machine was regularly used only 2x a WEEK absurd!!!

Replaced an older model of the same Kitchenaid dishwasher that we loved and had for almost 10 years. We have had this for barely 2 years and it has stopped working properly. Keeps stopping mid-cycle, checked everything I could think of (heating element, hi-temp sensor, OWI sensor, water temp, etc.). It is going to the scrap heap. Very disappointed, considering how much this cost and got barely two years out of it.

I've had this dishwasher since March 28, 2014. On December 14, 2015, the bottom rack slide rollers failed, and had to be replaced, but the replacement rollers did not work properly. It was like a metal to metal sound rubbing when sliding in or out. Plus, they required more pressure to slide than the ones that came with the new unit. On February 17, 2017 the unit wouldn't complete a cycle, and the computer board was replaced. Today, the unit will not complete a cycle again. I purchased the extended Warranty to take it out to 60 months. The repair turn-around is usually 2-3 weeks. What good is a Warranty if the unit is unreliable. Consumer Report gave this unit an A+ and it looks like I made a mistake in trusting Consumer Report.

I have had Whirpool gold dishwasher series during the last 30 years and I decided to change for KitchenAid KDTE704DSS0 series but, it is the worst dishwasher I have had in my life. I bought this dishswasher on September 20th 2014, now the control panel is not working and I have to change it. The quotation for this part and the reparation is too expensive so, I decided to change this dishwasher for a new one. The cable door so far is broken also. I have never had this kind of problems with any of my previous Whirpool gold series dishwashers. Definetly I do not recommend the hidden control console.

The most quiet dishwasher I have ever owned.

Very quiet. Dishes get clean every time. If stacked correctly it will hold several days dishes. The only drawback is the very top rack for sharp knives seems to droop down and catch the glasses. I would recommend fixing that or leaving it out. Love this dishwasher.

We purchased this top-of-the-line dishwasher to replace our 16 year old KitchenAid. We went with KotchenAid again based on past experience and the reputation of KitchenAid. We have had the machine for two years. A couple of months ago, one of the guides for the bottom rack had to be replaced. Now the sanitize light is blinking indicating an error. We replaced our water heater and it is still blinking, so it is not an issue with the water temperature. I'm disappointed that what we thought was a quality machine is having these issues. The one saving grace is I purchased an extended warranty.

This is the quietest dishwasher I've ever heard of. You can't even tell it's running when you're in the kitchen. Plates stay in place and everything is clean without an issue. Like the handle style on this model better than on the newer one. Handle does not stick out too far.

Unbelievably Quiet

Very good product. So quiet I have to put my ear to the unit just to make sure it's working. The only fault I've found is that I cannot put some tall pieces into this washer as I could do with my previous washer. Outside of that I would rate this product as excellent. Truthfully for cleaning, quality, quietness and features this dishwasher deserves 5 stars. My only complaint is we like to drink from Tervis cups and they are too tall for the top rack. Because of the double walled construction they cannot go on the bottom. Besides this, I love this dishwasher and highly recommend.

Changed handles with newer models

I don't like the fact that kitchen aid changed designs on their handles. If they wanted to change the handle the brilliant engineers could have made them retrofit to existing allowing us to switch them out. All of my handles for refrigerator microwave oven are on the old style.

Recently bought a new home and were excited about our new kitchen! The home came with Kitchenaid appliances and looked great. Gas cooktop and microwave/oven combo are amazing and work perfectly. This Dishwasher though... Started out nice, good looking unit, has fancy buttons on the top of the door, runs real quiet but, the dishes have never come out clean looking and we prerinse everything. Cramped inside and soap never empties completely.. putting in a work order.

I bought this dishwasher because I loved the idea of washing "top rack only" as well as a full wash. It seemed to get high reviews and I got one as a floor model! But, it didn't clean the dishes. I called them out and they thought there were problems; next repair guy said no issues, but water wasn't hot enough. So I spent $500+ getting a pump added to the hot water line for the dishwasher to ensure hot water. Still didn't clean. They gave me a new dishwasher. Still didn't clean. Next repairman said water seems to be hot enough, but I should RUN MY HOT WATER UNTIL IT'S VERY HOT THEN START MY DISHWASHER - WHAT??? That is a completely UNACCEPTABLE solution. He said if he called whirpool tech support, that's what they would tell him was the solution. Well, for about 2 weeks now, I've run the hot water, tried at least 3 different types of detergent (each repairman has suggested a different type). I'll admit that it's better, but I still have dirty dishes, mostly on the top rack. I'm calling the repair guy back out soon and will hopefully get this resolved.

poor inner stainless

I bought this in march 2015 , and after many attempts to clean the stainless inside the door and inner cabin it shows massive discoloration. Already i am having the inner door replaced and have to advise the service company i wish to have the entire inside stainless replaced . its a very thin and poor quality sheet os melt that is showing heating marks that can not be cleaned or removed. i will request to have a new unit and i would not be surprised this model will be recalled for such poor quality.

Model is not well liked on Protégez-Vous

I returned the diswasher for a refund the very next day after finding out that it did not get a good report in the magazine Protégez-Vous. And also the model is discontinued! The wash cycles are way too long. I prefer the other Kitchen-Aid model tested in 2014 which got a very good rating. I will probably buy a new KitchenAid dishwasher further down the road since my present Kitchen-Aid dishwasher is still running very well and very quiet and it is now over 17 years old!

Bought this dishwasher a few months ago to replace an older kitchenaid model that lasted for years. This dishwasher has all the bells and whistles. Cleans without needing to prescrub any plates or pots. The cycles lasts about 2 hours or so (never really timed it) but definitely worth it. A bit pricey for the job but loading and unloading dishes is nearly effortless. Super Quiet machine as well. Great product!

Extremely quiet - one design flaw

Upgraded to this top of line Kitchenaid at recommendation of our appliance dealer over our original choice GE dishwasher. Love the style and ultra quiet operation. One item that I was surprised about - the top rack has only two positions - all the way up, and all the down. With the top rack all the way down, standard size plates interfere with the spray arm on the underside of that rack... meaning you really only have one position of the rack if you're loading up your unit with plates... if you want to wash very tall glasses, stemware etc... well, no plates for you!

Have owned this dishwaher for 6 months and like it. It is super quite. Thank goodness the stages of the wash cycle are discribed on the unit door. The cleaning is superior. Very little water is left behind on inverted cups/glasses. My only complaint is that the shelving design will not accept a 12" fry to be washed. The height of the pan interfers with the rotation of the middle wash wand. Would also recommend that some of the row tines be flexable to go flat. This would allow large salad dishes to stand upright instead of leaning in the rack.

Wow! What a versatile dishwasher!!

This dishwasher has all the bells and whistles! The top tack is convertible for stemmed ware and regular glasses. There is a tray on top of the top rack for silverware it kitchen utensils. This tray will come out of you need it to. I have had this dishwasher for two months and am still discovering new features and ways to use it! It is so quiet you hardly know it is running and has a display light that says"clean" at the end of the cycle until you open doth door. You are never left with that are these dishes clean or dirty dilemma!

This was our first major purchase after moving into our new home that needs complete remodeling. I needed a dishwasher immediately and I'm so happy I bought Kitchenaide and this model!! I love every feature even the top utensil drawer.

Great Features! Well Built! QUIET!!

Purchased this after our other Kitchenaid DW died after 10+ years of service. Looked at numerous brands, before deciding on another Kitchenaid. This dishwasher is a dream. Loaded with features and racks/nooks for all my utensils. This DW organizes all my washables, from the tiniest spoon to the largest bowl and cleans with a sparkle. ...And did I mention how quiet? VERY Quiet Amazing!

Quiet But Must Download Full User Manual

I bought the top-of-the line KitchenAid after doing significant research. What sold me was the noise level, or should I say lack of noise level. It is QUIET. Installation by a professional had a few issues. It doesn't fit exactly in the space of my old dishwasher. I need to have some minor carpentry done on the surrounding cabinets so it does not stick out too far. It is minor but not perfect until a carpenter takes off a sliver of wood on each side of the dishwasher. I have one complaint. After paying for a high-end dishwasher, I would expect to have it delivered with the 60 page User Manual. All it comes with is a large, unmanageable summary page. I had to download and print the manual to understand some of the features, such as the top adjustable tray. This is not addressed at all on the summary sheet. The dishwasher was delivered with the tray in the "down" position and my stoneware dinner plates would not fit in the bottom tray. I had to raise the top tray, and when I did, the door would not close. After downloading the manual, it became apparent what I had done wrong and once accomplishing the adjustment procedure correctly, all was fine. The bottom line complaint is for the price I paid, the company can afford to print a 60 page manual. It takes time to get used to the best way to load the dishwasher and this is definitely different than my old machine. I am sure with time, I will get used to the new arrangement. We will see how our 4th of July family get together is handled by my new dishwasher.

Surprisingly quiet, average cleaning power

This dishwasher was part of an appliance package installed in our new home. As a fan of KitchenAid, I had no concerns. After 3 weeks, I give it mixed reviews. The really good: I am thrilled with how quiet the unit is. You don't even know it's on when you're standing in front of it. The frustrating: I am still experimenting with what it's going to take to get clean dishes out of this machine. We do a lot of rinsing and brushing before loading, use rinse agent and the prescribed amount of a high-quality detergent, but it's either our hard water or another unknown factor that's hindering us. Dishes come out hazy, or even with food traces. The "soil sensor" cycle is useless in our opinion. We'll keep trying, but I hate to think that we will always need to run heavy cycles to get good results.
