I did a lot of research before purchasing this refrigerator. It is really stunning but also has great features and is really spacious. I was worried the freezer was going to be small but it is deceiving at how much room it has and the ease of reaching everything. I am so glad I made the decision to go with the KitchenAid Counter-depth Platinum Interior Refrigerator.

This was an expensive appliance and we are not crazy about the longetivity of it. The ice maker is very loud - when in use and when not in use. Also, the gasket on the door is already ripping at under 1 year I wouldn't expect this to happen.

Just received this yesterday, found a few minor scratches so I contacted KitchenAid to get touch up paint, I can't believe a person pays over $4000.00 for a refrigerator and they want to charge me $10.05 plus shipping and handling to fix scratches I didn't put on it to begin with. something that expensive should come with touch up paint when it's delivered. So far the product is great, but the customer service isn't.

Bought with high expectations of brand name. Ice maker very disappointing as it has very little ice - enough for maybe 2 glasses of sweet tea per day. Ice dispenser did not work when it did start making ice and have to have electronic panel replaced. Presently on order so I still do not know if it will ever work. I do like the pretty interior of refrigerator section.

I bought this fridge about 1 year ago. The storage is ample. I was able to fit 2-3 pizza boxes in the compartment with issues. Loved the amount of space this fridge offers.
The only downside is that my thermostat broke just after one year after the manufacture's warranty. However, Kitchenaid graciously repaired the thermostat at no cost.

Product engineers need to reconsider the ice dispenser, which shoots out ice fast and at weird angle so inevitably a few cubes get on the floor.
Second bigger issue is a "potential space" on the main shelf in which liquid can flow and there is no way to access it for cleaning. Some blueberry juice leaked out of a bag and between the panels. (I am trying to determine how to take it apart without damaging)

We are on our second unit and are working on picking out a different model. Because after a leek and some house damage you can imagine why we don't want this one for a third time. We will probably choose a model of lesser value. Whirlpool will not refund us the difference. So to summarize what's happened, we've had two broken refrigerators, a leek, will need new flooring and drywall in the basement, I have spent countless hours on the phone with Whirlpool mostly on hold, we paid 4500 for a top of the line refrigerator and will end up with a 2500 one. Not to mention the spoiled food. We also have had the ice maker replaced several times. Makes me so mad when I think of the time and hassle this has cost me. And please Whirlpool don't respond to this comment acting like you're going to fix the problem. I've already spoken to a few representatives and you don't reimburse and we've experienced that you tell us certain things and don't follow through.

This is a well designed frig for size. Compartments are good size and easy to access. My wife loves the smaller ice cubes. Only item that wish was better is the capacity for ice cube maker. It is perfect for the two of us but when we have company need to have backup plan for more ice. Got this refrigerator as an alternative to one we ordered that was on backorder. Not disappointed but this frig was definitely smaller.

Within 5 months the compressor went out. It still has not been fixed/replaced after 20 days! Kitchen Aid cannot find the needed part (wire board) that matches the compressor to provide to the appliance repair company that they use in our area. We asked for a replacement. KA is offering us a $150 Visa Gift Card. I don't want a gift card. I want this $4000 appliance to work! Terrible customer service!

We purchased Kitchen Aid package we remodeled our home in 2017. Loved the look of this refrigerator to match look of rest of appliances. It has been a nightmare we up to our seventh service call mainly ice dispenser. It continues to freeze up and will not dispense. Service techs would deice and then it would freeze up again, finally that would not work had to replace entire door control panel. The refrigerator had to be turned off and waited over 4 days for parts so had to throw out food and use coolers. Now on its on its own it is automatically dispense ice and does it randomly. Luckily we have 5 year warranty which is a pain to get people to come out. On the phone now with Kitchen aid to get refunded. Of course they are hiding behind the extended warranty was purchased from appliance dealer so I will have to take claim to them! Which I assumed at time of purchasing warranty it was Kitchen Aid not!! If you are so in love with the look of this refrigerator like we were then good luck be sure to ask for the Kitchen aid warranty, oh just found out they do not offer one through Kitchen aid, go figure! I do not think they have zero star rating. More of our wild possessed refrigerator to come.

Had the fridge for about a month now.
If price weren't an issue, this would be a 5 star refrigerator. At this premium price though, there are a couple of minor issues holding me back from a 5 star rating.
1. The ice dispenser doesn't immediately stop when you pull the glass off the button. So you have to pull the glass away enough to stop pressing the trigger, but keep it there to catch another 5 or six of the mini-cubes.
2. Inside the french doors, the lower drawer is full width. Anything you store in that drawer can only be accessed if you open both doors. It would have been more convenient to split that drawer into a right and left.
3. Fingerprints and water splashes need wiping daily. (house with 3 kids)

loved the plantinum interior and the led lighting, and it was a kitchenaid so it was a no brainer we thought. less than 4 months later it stopped making ice and was 50 degrees in the refigerator section. a year later and 3 service calls for the same issue and we are at our wits end. seems the ice maker being in the door insided the refrigerator causes the rear of the unit to ice up and then has to be manually defrosted to work again. if not for the extended warranty we would be paying for all these service calls and when that expires it will be us paying! don't even consider a model like this unless you enjoy going to your garage refrigerator often.

In addition, our water dispenser was working intermittently, the service man discovered our water pressure was too high in the house and installed a water pressure regulator in the supply line, we had to purchase a new water line. outside of these pesky issues the fridge has been great.

We just purchased this refrigerator in Aug, receiving it Aug 13th. Aesthetically speaking it is very classic and attractive in appearance, it lacks all the bells and whistles that some of the French door refrigerators boast, especially the door in a door view, or the wifi connectivity. so in that sense it is a basic fridge. The platinum interior also looks very appealing, and is spacious but unfortunately, attractiveness is the ONLY positive attribute I have yet to discover. The self-closing wood-look tray sticks when trying to pull it out. The variable tempurature long self-closing drawer below the crisper drawers does not close tightly without lifting it and pusing it all the way in on your own. The produce drawer also froze my cilantro, when the refrigerator was set to 37 degrees F, the recommended temperature. I suspect it is due to the necessity of constantly using the "max ice" button to make more ice. We called Kitchen Aid and they had a technician from the place of purchase come out and take a look at the operation of all the sticking /not closing drawers, on Aug. 16th. He looked it over, validated my concerns, and said he will have to research the problem and would get back to me (not sure how long this will take, its now Sept. 4th). The worst thing about this refrigerator is IT HARDLY MAKES ANY ICE! honestly, I wish I would have known how little ice it makes, we have to buy a bag of ice and keep it below (and we don't even live in a hot climate). The ice maker hardly ever kicks on, and the ice bin is never full. only half full at best, it is a VERY annoying situation and we only have a family of 3! I am very sorry I bought this refrigerator I would not buy it again. I should have known, good looks and high price do not mean it is going to be great, what a disappointment from a brand with such a good reputation.

After 11/2 years the compromise failed. Took 10 days waiting for parts and mechanics to repair. That new compressor lasted 7 days. The next service could not be done for another 10 days and then they would have to order parts to fix it.
Whirlpool then gave us a new refrigerator. We are thankful for that. It was under warranty. Just took time to go through the procedures.

I bought a new home and this fridge came with the house. The previous homeowner provided me the original invoice, indicating the fridge was purchased 26 months ago. After two months in my new home, the fridge died. I called Kitchenaid and they looked up the serial number and told me... great news, this fridge is covered by an extended warranty purchased by the original owner. But then came the bad news... Only the person whose name appears on the warranty can use the warranty or transfer it to someone else. Since that person is nowhere to be found, Kitchenaid tells me I'm out of luck. So not only did this $4500 piece of junk break after just 26 months... but Kitchenaid refuses to honor the extended warranty that is clearly attached to this Fridge by serial number because my name is not on the paperwork. I feel like someone should notify Kitchenaid that: a) repeat business is a thing, and b) it is a thing you have to earn. I will never buy another Kitchenaid product again. And "No Thanks" in advance to the automated reply that will soon post on this thread, urging me to contact them for assistance. Already spent an hour doing that today and it was the most frustrating ordeal I have been through in quite a while.

We've had this fridge for roughly two years and paid WAYY too much money for it 6,000 to be exact. Loved the design.. should have bought a ZERO fridge by WOLF. Biggest waste of 6,000 I've ever spent. We've had issue after issue and reading other reviews seems everyone has the same Problem.
We haven't contacted the company, seems pointless anyways. Thankfully we were able to self fix the issue every time this seems to happen, it's just time consuming as you need to empty your entire fridge use coolers for a few days to Keep the rest of your food from spoiling..

I bought this refrigerator 2 years ago in June of 2017. Yesterday it started getting warm inside. I woke up today and it was very warm inside. So, I contacted KitchenAid as it is still under warranty. Turns out I have to pay a $130 service fee for someone to come look at it...and they can't come out for almost a week! I expect more after buying a $4,500 appliance. I thought KitchenAid was a better company than this.

We purchased this refrigerator in February 2019 and absolutely loved it until now. A couple of weeks ago, we started having problems with our ice maker and water dispenser--Ice freezing up in clumps and and only a slight stream of water. We emptied the ice holder, dried it out and reinstalled only to have it happen again and again. We have had two service calls in the last week, but the unit is still not able to dispense ice because it freezes up. We had company scheduled for a visit and could not use the ice maker at all.
No fun. I will call the service center again tomorrow and can only hope that the unit is replaced.

There are known issues with this fridge. It does not have a heater to aid in the defrosting process. The drawers and shelves are flimsy plastic that WILL break apart in your hands. Kitchen Aid (Whirlpool, Maytag, Jenn Air; all the same junk with different badges) does not stand behind their product. I spoke with 7 different people at Kitchen Aid (higher level employees each time) and their answer is, the % of bad fridges is low enough that technically there is not an issue. We had an extended warranty, 4 different technicians and 11 visits later, we might be getting a new fridge. Each tech said, the design is flawed and the fridge will never be right. Kitchen Aid completely passed the buck, "out of manufacturer's warranty", "deal with your warranty company" warranty company says "kitchen aid keeps telling us to try other things. If you buy this fridge you WILL have issues. It took a year for us the first time, then 6 months the second time, now it hasn't been working for 2 months as the repair company comes out time after time and says this thing is junk and cant be repaired, but they keep making us come back out because they don't want to replace it or acknowledge that the unit needs to be recalled. Finally, Kitchen Aid will likely post a blurb about "contact us directly, we want to fix the issue" it is nonsense, they won't do ANYTHING.

The first refrigerator that was delivered would not cool and seemed to be missing the coolant to make it actually work, but the 2nd one has been good so far. I am still trying to find the best way to organize, but the interior is gorgeous. I wish the freezer had more space. The exterior looks fantastic in our kitchen and looks very sleek.
